YASAD FOUNDATION COLLECTION · BOOK IV
THE HEAD OF THE SNAKE
Understanding begins at the source.
A disciplined investigation into the origins, governing patterns, and hidden structures that shape repeated outcomes.

THE SOURCE BENEATH THE SYMPTOM
The Head of the Snake asks the scholar to look beyond visible effects and examine the source from which a pattern receives its direction. The work emphasizes observation, disciplined inquiry, and the distinction between reacting to consequences and understanding what governs them.

ORIGIN

INFLUENCE

CONSEQUENCE

THE QUESTION WITHIN THE BOOK
What governs the pattern we are trying to change?
Transformation requires more than addressing what can be seen. It begins by tracing repetition, influence, and consequence back to their organizing source.
THE FOUR PRINCIPLES OF SOURCE INVESTIGATION

ORIGIN
Identify where the pattern first receives its direction.

STRUCTURE
Examine the system that allows the pattern to continue.

INFLUENCE
Observe how the pattern shapes thought, behavior, and consequence.

DISCIPLINED RESPONSE
Replace reaction with deliberate understanding and purposeful action.
ANATOMY OF A GOVERNING PATTERN
FROM SOURCE TO CONSEQUENCE
The point from which direction begins.
ORIGIN
The interpretation that gives the pattern meaning.
BELIEF
To change the outcome, investigate the chain that produced it.
The internal instruction produced by that belief.
COMMAND
REPETITION
The behavior through which the instruction becomes established.
The visible result that appears at the end of the pattern.
CONSEQUENCE

FEATURED LESSON
OBSERVE
TRACE
RESPOND
TRACE THE PATTERN TO ITS SOURCE
A guided investigation into recognizing repeated outcomes, separating symptoms from causes, and examining the structure that allows a pattern to continue.
THE ANATOMY OF INFLUENCE
Visible behavior is often the final expression of an unseen governing pattern. Trace the movement of influence before judging its result.
SOURCE
Where the influence originates.
MESSAGE
The idea, command, or interpretation being transmitted.
BELIEF
The internal agreement that gives the message authority.
ACTION
The visible behavior produced by the accepted belief.
THE INVESTIGATOR’S TABLE
Place the pattern before you. Separate observation from assumption and trace every conclusion back to its evidence.

WHAT HAPPENED?
Record only what can be directly observed.
WHAT DIRECTED IT?
Examine the belief, incentive, authority, or influence behind the pattern.
WHAT REPEATED?
Identify recurring language, behavior, timing, or consequence.
WHAT MUST CHANGE?
Define the source-level correction required to interrupt repetition.
THE SILENT COMMAND

What instruction have I been following without first examining its source?
Some patterns survive because an unexamined command continues to govern from beneath conscious thought. This investigation asks the scholar to identify that command, determine how it gained authority, and decide whether it deserves continued obedience.
BREAKING THE PATTERN
01
RECOGNIZE
Name the recurring result without minimizing it.
02
TRACE
Follow the pattern backward toward its source.
03
TEST
Compare assumptions with evidence and governing principles.
04
REPLACE
Establish a more truthful and disciplined command.
05
PRACTICE
Reinforce the correction through deliberate repetition.
A pattern loses authority when its source is exposed and its command is no longer obeyed.
Identify one pattern in your life, work, leadership, or study that repeatedly produces the same result. What visible symptom does it create? What belief or influence may be governing it? What evidence would confirm or challenge your conclusion?

THE HEAD OF THE SNAKE
CHANGE THE SOURCE, AND THE PATTERN MUST FOLLOW.
The disciplined seeker does not remain occupied with symptoms. Return to the origin, examine what governs the repetition, and choose the principle that will direct what comes next.
